There was a prayer service yesterday at The Rose community center for Brandoniya Bennett, age 9. Brandoniya had just had her nails done and was at home sitting on her couch when she was struck by a bullet in the head. She was excited about starting fourth grade on Monday. The shooter was allegedly one of two fatherless 19-year old rappers who were trading lyrics insulting to each other on Instagram. Thinking he was taking his revenge, he shot randomly into the wrong house.
Incarnation Place partners with our neighbors at Roseland Townhomes, and a variety of other churches and agencies, to build a stronger community. This summer there have been six shooting incidents at Roseland, three children killed, and two others injured.
Please pray for Brandoniya; her family, the families of the other murdered children; an end to gun violence; and for the Roseland residents who are grieving and shaken.
